Venue & travel

Address2079 E Shore Dr, Lansing, NY 14882, USA
Description
This winter, Lansing and Ithaca NY will have an amateur chess tournament with coffee and cash prizes. Located in the ballroom of the near-200 year old Rogue's Harbor Inn and Pub, expect a beautiful classic setting with refreshments and good company. This tournament is casual, inexperienced players are welcome, as are questions, t-shirts, and dubious gambits. Players without tournament experience or with a USCF rating under 1600/Chess.com rating under 2000/Lichess rating under 2100 are invited to play classical chess. More experienced players are welcome to show up but not to compete for prizes. If you are right on the fringes, use your judgement - is a casual tournament a good fit for you? Update: we have opened a second section for expert level (1750+) players. You can sign up here: https://www.swips.eu/en/tournaments/3153089. From 12pm to 6pm, we will host classical games for a prize in the ballroom. At 6 there will be an intermission for people to get food and drinks at the pub, and then optionally return upstairs until 9pm for some fun and casual games of 5+3 blitz. Prizes will be awarded after dinner. Addendum: if your rating was changed to 1000 automatically, please email me at [email protected] with your name and approximate rating and I will change it for more accurate pairings.
TransportNone provided.
FoodCoffee free, a pub with food and drinks downstairs.
AccommodationThe venue is on the third floor of the historic Rogue's Harbor building and is only accessible by staircase.
